Getting paid
This page describes what each place in the table earns, and what share of it is yours.
Where the money comes from
The money held inside TopFlight sits in a float, and the float earns a return. All of what it earns is paid out. Money not yet put into a club's token is paid its return directly, so the balance rises every day. Money in a club's token is paid through the table instead: every day, a club's place sets its share of what the float earns, and that share is paid to the people holding the club's token.
How does the float earn a return
The float will earn a return via being placed in a DeFi lending protocol every night. The process will be fully transparent, visible and auditable on chain. The return will be variable and dependent on supply and demand. More details will be provided later as we move towards a production version; for now, we assume a constant rate of 4% for the Beta platform.

| 4th | 10.0% | 14th | 0.15% |
| 5th | 6.6% | 15th | 0.1% |
| 6th | 4.5% | 16th | 0.07% |
| 7th | 3.0% | 17th | 0.05% |
| 8th | 2.0% | 18th | 0.035% |

| 10th | 0.9% | 20th | 0.02% |
Each place earns about half as much again as the place below it. First place earns about 1,650 times what twentieth earns, and the top four take about four fifths of the daily pay between them.
Every place in the Premier League earns, first to twentieth. The pay goes with the place, so a relegated club keeps its token and earns nothing while it is outside the Premier League, then earns again from the first daily table that has it back in the twenty. Nothing is created or announced when a club goes up or down. Promotion and relegation details this.
Where the table comes from
Each day, TopFlight's table keeper posts the Premier League table from the published standings, and in production the table will be posted through UMA's optimistic oracle, a public service for settling disputed facts on chain.
The summer
TopFlight holds one table: the league as it stands. A table pays until another table replaces it, so when the football stops the final standings keep paying and the daily payments continue right across the break.
A worked example
Every figure here is an illustration. What the float earns moves with the money held inside TopFlight, and it is never fixed or promised.
Liverpool are first. Their token costs 7.65 cents.
A $1,000 purchase buys about 11,500 tokens, rather than the 13,072 that 7.65 cents buys at a standstill, because the purchase raises the price as it fills. The quantity is shown before the trade is confirmed.
Say TopFlight holds $400,000 and the float is earning $44 a day. First place earns 33 percent of that, so Liverpool earn about $14.50 a day, paid across all 400,000 of their tokens.
The purchase is about 2.9 percent of Liverpool's tokens, so it earns about 42 cents a day, or about $150 over a year while Liverpool stay first. Every token counts, the market maker's included, so what a token earns does not move when somebody else buys.
At second place the club earns 22 percent instead of 33 percent, and every figure above falls by a third.
Yield
Each club shows a yield. It is the annual return the daily pay would produce on the token's current price, if today's figures held for a year.
Three figures go into it: what the float is earning that day, the club's place, and the token's price. All three move.
Each club's page shows the yield at its current place, one place higher and one place lower. The number is today's rate on today's figures.
